The Birth of Christmas Ornament
Step-by-Step Journey

Blowing
The base material used to hand-blow our ornaments is a tube of silica-soda glass heated to a temperature of 1,300 °C. The diameter of the tube used depends on the size or shape of the ornament that is being made. More intricate shapes, such as animals or figures, are blown using ceramic moulds.
The best sellers are baubles with a diameter of 8 cm. A skilled blower can produce 460 of these per shift. The larger the ornament, the thicker the glass tube has to be, and the longer it takes to heat it to the correct temperature.
Silvering
Ornaments that are not intended to be transparent undergo a process called "silvering" after blowing. A special liquid is injected into the ornament, triggering a chemical reaction that then transforms the transparent glass into silver. This process gives the ornament a beautifully rich colour when it is dipped in coloured lacquer.
Up to 2,000 ornaments can be processed in this way in one day.

Dipping
An interesting part of the ornament's journey is the dipping station, where even the most bizarre shades of colours can be mixed. The ornament can then have a glossy, matte, porcelain-like, frosting, or other effect, such as bronze, metallic, shell, sand, semi-matte, or satin. We can mix almost any shade you can imagine.
Not all ornaments need to be dipped – clear glass ornaments that won't be silvered either do not undergo this process. Those ornaments that are to be purely silver do not need to be dipped.
Decorating
Welcome to the beauty parlour for Christmas ornaments! Skilled painters use squirrel hair brushes to produce designs rendered precisely according to a template. Sometimes the decoration process resembles the baking of Christmas gingerbread, especially when the artist decorates using a piping bag filled with decorative paste. The final touch involves a wide range of sprinkles, glitter, pearls, feathers, and other materials.

Packaging
Now the ornaments are ready to head off to the most beautiful tree in the world – yours. All ornaments have a handling stem, which is snipped off in the packing room, i.e. at the very end of the ornament's journey. We carefully inspect each ornament for you, attach a clasp – an eyelet by which you can hang the ornament on the tree – and pack it in a box so it can be transported safely to your home.
At the customer's request, we can label our collections with price tags, stick labels on the boxes, and even insert a personalised Christmas card.
